Youth Summit Agenda 

The summit brings together about 350 student leaders and educators from all over the globe to learn about the work of the United Nations on addressing climate change.  Participants will also learn specific skills that they can bring back to their communities to build effective campaigns about climate change challenges and solutions.

7:30-8:15 Leave hotel for United Nations
Hotel is within walking distance to the UN  
Every participant must show photo ID to enter the UN.
**Dress code for this event is business casual (No t-shirts, shorts, jeans, or flip flops.  Ties are not required, but men should plan to wear dress shirts.)

8:30-9:15 Keynote Address
"The Role of the United Nations in Solving Global Problems"

9:30-11:00 Panel: Young People and Activism on Climate Change

9:00-10:15 Opening Plenary

10:30-12:30 Concurrent Workshops: Finding Your Voice
Participants will break into small groups (see name badge for group number)

• One of the best ways to make your point is to share your personal story.  Learn how to let your passion and interests come alive through telling your own story.  We’ll give you all the tips and skills you will need!

12:30-1:30 Lunch

1:30-5:00 Using Social Media

• How can you get your thoughts, ideas and messages out to the world?  This workshop will show you how to use media - video, podcasts, spoken word, etc. - to effectively communicate and reach ever wider audiences.

**Please wear comfortable clothes and bring sneakers (closed toe shoes).  We will provide Summit t-shirts for everyone to wear. Some of the projects involve gardening - please plan to wear clothes that are appropriate for working outside.

9:00-2:00 Service Project (Details to come!)
Lunch will be provided at each site

2:00-4:30 Free time to work on contests and meet with other students

4:30-5:30 Buses leave for harbor
Don't miss the boat, literally!  You must arrive by 5:45 at the latest or the ship sails without you!

6:00-9:00 Closing Banquet
